Let's get through this together with more love and caring than ever before!
Enjoy the soulfulness.
Update: And not to forget, great human togetherness was once available with only live rehearsals, a boom box that played CDs or tapes, and a whole lot of spirit!
An oldy but goody; moves me to tears everytime; it's the human love of FUN! (video of wedding dance original):
And did you know that the couple who got married at the above wedding donate all contributions toward non-violence?
Be safe; be happy! :>)

Do you have any suggestions on which software or apps are best for recording music together and apart like this please? TIA
ReplyDeleteGet in touch with Viviana Guzman; she used a video editing software to create the second video. Best, Jen
ReplyDeleteWhen you get an answer from Viviana, could you post it? We tried using Zoom today with our orchestra and it didn't work that well.

ReplyDeleteDear Jane,
ReplyDeleteI know from reading the FLUTElist, where Viviana posted about the experience, that she didn't use Zoom.us the conferencing platform. She instead, provided a click-track with a basic version of the piece on mp3 that the students put into their headphones and filmed themselves playing along with. The "flute choir" was created in post-production using a video-organizing software that allows you to put a visual set of pre-formatted "boxes" on the screen, to highlight different portions of each pre-recorded film.
To my knowledge NONE of these films is done in real time, with every player hearing every other player. They're all recorded separately to a basic click-track accompaniment, and then the film-editor makes all the edits, and equalizes all the various volume levels, and selects the final audio mix in post-production.
For live-time playing along you need not Zoom conferencing, which like all facetime and skype software has LAG in the timing, but perhaps a new platfrom like "JamKazam" which is untried and a bit overloaded right at the moment.
Good luck. Jen
I have sent a message through her website and will post any reply that I receive. In the meantime I will also check out JamKazam, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe local brass quintet tried to get Jamkazam going this week, I heard from my partner, but increased volume of traffic and need for a $50 pre-amp to create better raw sound seem to be the slow downs right now.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you get your orchestra working out something viable. :>)
Here is Viviana’s blogpost about her virtual flute choir which she was kind enough to forward to me: http://viviana.org/2020/03/24/vivianas-virtual-flute-choir/
