Geoffrey Gilbert plays Debussy

It's not often you get a chance to hear Geoffrey Gilbert play. Enjoy!

Gilbert performs Debussy on youtube.

The book by Angelita Floyd about Gilbert's teaching is fabulous for flutists thinking ahead to this summer's study too.

Such wonderful flute playing, so even, clean, and open in sound. And the Debussy--I had never heard or even heard of this work. Just a beautiful piece

I'm Geoff's nephew, Michael Winzer Gilbert. This is the first time I ever heard my uncle play. Marvellous. Thank you to whoever put that up on FB. My Dad, Geoff's brother, Tom Gilbert, was First Clarinet for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in England. Geoff was the wunderkind of the family, which happens to stem from Germany in the village of Dutenhofen, Wetzlar, Hesse. My family's predecessors moved to England in 1839 and described themselves as "Strolling Musicians" on the "Alien Entry" Customs document. That led to Geoff, Tom and my Granddad Ernest, who was a professional oboeist. My brother and I are also musicians, but not to that standard!
