Speechless....

Speechless; and you'll soon see why. (video)

Twelve year old Julin Cheung from Seattle, plays Rodrigo,
by memory, for Sir James Galway this past week.
Another camera angle is on Galway's facebook (where you can
see that the performer has no copy of the music in front of him.)

Jen not often this speechless

ps.   Don't quit.

Even the tiniest village needs its flute players!

pps. :)

I like the "don't quit" comment ... it certainly came to mind! Thanks for sharing. Incredible.

I just listened to the master class video of the kid from Seattle and I could hardly believe my ears. That young boy is a superstar in the making, without question. Thank you for putting this video in your emails.

I injured my left hand badly and am having great difficulty in even grasping my flute. I have some left hand exercises for piano, but none for flute. Any suggestions? I gave up a little over a year ago, but recently have decided to try again, even if the results are less than perfect.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dear John,
I hear you when you say you injured your left hand, but are you really looking for "left hand exercises"? Are you trying to strengthen the hand that's damaged? If that's the case, I would ask a physiotherapist or hand-specialist. How would one know which possible "exercises" would help the hand, rather than harm it? Are the left-hand piano exercises you're thinking of developed for damaged left hands? I find the question a bit confusing. Could you clarify?
And was the hand damaged NOT from flute playing? If so, why not have your flute keys re-configured so that you can play them with an entirely easier hand position?
Need more info. And hey, you don't need to comment here; write an email.
Jen
